7 Best Table Saw Miter Gauges

Value for Money Choice: Fulton Precision Miter Gauge

Our pick for the best table saw miter gauge is the Fulton Precision Miter Gauge. It fits a standard 3/4” x 3/8” slot that’ll work for 85% of all table saws on the market today. It’s a very easy to use and accurate model that anyone from a hobbyist to a professional carpenter will be able to operate. It’s also a big step up from your stock standard miter gauge that comes with your table saw.

Most miter gauges that come with table saws … well, they are pretty average. The accuracy and stability leaves a lot to be desired. So, for your next miter gauge, we’ll think you’ll notice the step up to an aftermarket miter saw.

But before you get a new miter gauge, make sure you check the size of the miter gauge slot on your tool. Most (really, nearly all) miter gauge slots are the standard 3/4” x 3/8” t-slot model. But it’s always best to check your table saw’s manual. There’s the odd 5/8” slot still out there (if that’s you – get consider gauge #7 on this list).

Once you’ve checked which size you need, time to shop around for the the best table saw miter gauge for you. Here are a few good options:

1. Incra MITER3000SE Miter Gauge with Telescoping Fence

Quick Review: Best for professionals. This is an industry-leading miter gauge that is renowned for quality and precision.

  • Size: 3/4” x 3/8”
  • Our Rating: 9.5/10

Incra is arguably the industry standard when it comes to miter gauges and the MITER3000SE is a high-end model that is manufactured for precise and professional woodworking.

A huge 27” – 49” telescoping fence Is one of the largest on the market when it comes to miter gauge fences and it’s a feature that allows support and rigidity when cutting with stock of almost all sizes.

The laser-cut V-stops are another cutting edge (excuse the pun) feature that significantly improves the precision of this tool. While most miter gauges will have somewhere between 8 – 15 positive stop holes utilizing the most common cutting angles, this Incra model has 364 indexing V-stops which allow for an incredible amount of precision at a wide range of angles.

The AngleLOCK indexing system locks in accurate and repeatable 5 degrees, 1 degree and ½ degree over a full range of 180 degrees for precise and reliable accuracy at every cutting angle.

This is without a doubt one of (if not the) most precise miter gauges on the market and if you are a professional woodworker then purchasing this should be a no brainer for repeatable and accurate crosscutting.

Chris Says: “This is a great, high-quality product for the professional woodworker. Unfortunately the higher price point might detract hobbyists.”

We must admit that the price could be a stumbling block for a lot of people which is why our recommendation is geared towards a professional contractor as it’s definitely an investment rather than a hobby purchase.

Why This One

Keep in Mind

Stability: A 27” – 49” telescoping fence is huge when it comes to miter fences and allows for stability when cutting any sized stock.

Precision: 364 laser-cut V-stops allow for incredible precision and give little play at multiple angles.

Accuracy: The AngleLOCK indexing system combined with the V-stops allows for an unrivaled cutting accuracy at all angles.

High Price Point: This is no doubt a premium model and Incra is well renowned for its precision and quality which also has a premium price to match.

2. Fulton Precision Miter Gauge

Quick Review: A great, high quality choice. This is a precise and stable miter gauge that offers additional stability for the most common cutting angles.

  • Size: 3/4” x 3/8”
  • Our Rating: 9/10

The Fulton precision miter gauge is an upgrade on almost any factory default miter gauge that comes as standard with most table saws. The great thing about this model is not fancy features but rather the simplicity and ease of use that most professionals will appreciate on the jobsite.

The positive stops on this miter gauge make use of the most common cross-cutting angles (90, 45, 30 degrees, etc..) and have 13 in total. This is ideal for ensuring accuracy on the most common woodworking projects and the stops lock into place securely with no movement.

This model includes a removable retaining disc that can be universally used in most standard T-slots which prevents lift during a stock feed through. If your table saw doesn’t have a T-slot then the disc can quickly be removed but keep in mind that you’ll likely need a drill in order to do this.

The precision of this model comes in part from the solid construction of aluminum and steel but also as a result of the accurate scale (right out of the box) and also the adjustable spring-loaded plungers that keep the miter gauge secured tightly in the slot.

Chris Says: “This model balances value for money and quality quite well, so while we’d have chosen the Incra model (above) in a world where money is no barrier, the reality is that most people will want one that’s at a lower price point. That’s why we’ve selected this one as our feature item at the top of this article.”

The spring-loaded handle allows for fast and accurate adjustments and this miter gauge also has slotted holes for a miter fence to be attached if you want some additional support for cutting large stock.

Pros

Cons

Slotted Holes: The additional slotted holes allow you to add an upgrader miter fence for increased accuracy and stability on larger cuts.

Precise Crosscuts: Stop point at frequently used angles lock the miter gauge into position and allow for precision during these crosscuts.

Highly Regarded: Besides a few minor niggles, the majority of professionals find this miter gauge to be incredibly well made and precise.

Difficult Removable Disk: The removable disk for the T-slot is incredibly difficult to remove and most people will need to use a drill in order to remove it.

Poor Gauge Finish: The finish on the bottom of the gauge could definitely be improved and it will scratch your table if you don’t treat it before use.

3. Kreg KMS7102 Table Saw Precision Miter Gauge System

Quick Review: This is an ideal pick for hobbyist woodworkers. It is a precise and well calibrated miter gauge straight out of the box.

  • Size: 3/4” x 3/8”
  • Our Rating: 9/10

The Kreg KMS7102 miter gauge is an excellent tool for both hobbyist woodworkers and professional contractors alike. This is because the gauge is precision manufactured and calibrated straight out of the box meaning there is no need for calibration or adjustment.

Precision is the key selling point with this miter gauge and is evident throughout. It has the ability to make micro-adjustments to 1/100th of a degree, a 24” swing stop fence that allows for accuracy and ease of adjustment with large cuts (it’s also quick to swing out of the way) and finally an easy to use Vernier scale to make adjustments to 1/10th of a degree.

The positive stop slots are accurate and get locked into place with a solid brass pin that allows for zero play during a cut. This product also features five patented bar adjusters which removes any play in the miter slot (again increasing the accuracy of your cuts).

Simon’s Verdict: “This Kreg precision miter gauge is my top pick for enthusiasts and hobbyists when it comes to upgrading or replacing your stock miter gauge. The precision it offers is almost unrivaled and it’s at a decent price point.”

Pros

Cons

Factory Calibrated: The gauge head is factory calibrated on a computerized milling machine for reliable accuracy straight out of the box

Fence Swing Stop: The large 24” fence with swing stop allows for ease of cutting large stock with the option for fast and accurate length adjustments.

Precision: An easy to read, dial in gauge, factory calibrated construct and micro-adjustments make this one of the most precise miter gauges on the market.

Doesn’t Lock Into Place: Most miter gauges allow you to lock them into place on the T-slot however this Kreg model relies on nylon screws that don’t offer the same level of stability.

4. O’skool 18 Inch (457mm) Miter Gauge Fence system

Quick Review: Get this product if you want a reliable and sturdy miter gauge that also includes a miter fence for added support when cutting larger stock.

  • Size: 3/4” x 3/8”
  • Our Rating: 8.5/10

The O’skool miter gauge is a well-made product that has the additional benefit of an 18” aluminum miter fence. This addition allows for added support and accuracy when cutting large and/or heavy stock.

The fence also includes a flip-up length stop for rigid support during crosscuts and can help a beginner woodworker make accurate, professional-grade cuts with complete ease.

Four spring-loaded ball bearings can be adjusted to keep the bar secure on the track and allow for smooth movement over the table. The gauge also includes 13 stop points that use the most common angles for added stability and ease of change in between multiple cuts.

While this won’t be a feature that many professionals are too concerned with, the visual and vibrant color is a very nice touch and gives this miter gauge a visual appeal that other brands don’t make use of (black is the standard color choice for most manufacturers).

Chris Says: “Further down the list here, we’ve got models like the O’skool that are nice and sturdy and a true step up from your stock miter saw, but also in that more affordable price point.”

The O’skool miter gauge is a great value for money product when you consider the accuracy, ease of use and most importantly, the addition of the aluminum table saw fence.

Pros

Cons

18” Aluminum Fence: The included 18” aluminum fence is an excellent addition to provide extra support and stability when cutting larger stock.

Ball Bearings: The four spring-loaded ball bearings keep the bar on track with no sideways movement and run very smoothly.

Price: This model is great value for money and is very competitively priced, even with the aluminum miter fence included.

Visually Appealing: The vibrant orange color gives this miter gauge a standout visual appeal.

Assembly Instruction: This miter gauge does not come with assembly instruction so if you’re a beginner woodworker you’ll need to watch an assembly video online for support.

Gauge Finish: As with the Fulton model on this list, this miter gauge also has a tendency to scratch the table if not treated prior to use.

5. Powertec 71005 Deluxe Table Saw Miter Gauge

Quick Review: An affordable pick. This is a great value and ergonomic miter gauge from an industry-leading brand.

  • Size: 3/4” x 3/8”
  • Our Rating: 8/10

Powertec is known for manufacturing high quality and durable products and the 71005 miter gauge is no exception. The heavy-duty cast metal gauge with a clean black coated finish not only looks durable but is also a solid construction.

The key feature with this model is the ergonomic large grip handle. The thick grip handle with rubber grip is both comfortable and makes it incredibly easy to cut a range of large stock. This is a very subtle feature but something we have found to drastically increase the comfort and accuracy during use.

The low-end price of this miter gauge is very surprising given that Powertec is a premium manufacturer and this is a great value for money product, especially for beginner or hobbyist woodworkers.

The tip-resistant washer is a great addition when cutting large stock and extending past the table and can also be removed if your table doesn’t feature a T-slot.

Our main concern (or issue) with this miter gauge is that the stop slots are on the exterior edges of the gauge, this means that they have a small amount of play in them even when locked into place and this means that accuracy is marginally affected.

Pros

Cons

Tip Resistant: The tip-resistant washer helps prevent the miter gauge from tipping when overextended during a cut.

Large Grip Handle: The large grip handle is both comfortable and solid allowing you to easily cut large stock.

Great Beginner Tool: This value for money miter gauge is an ideal upgrade on a stock miter gauge and great for beginner woodworkers.

Stop Slot: The external stop detents allow for some play during a cut and while it’s still accurate, even a small amount of play is not suitable for any professional contractor.

Non Premium Features: This miter gauge has too many features that are nonpremium (screws, finish etc..) which is reflected in the price but we wouldn’t recommend this to professionals.

6. Powertec 71391 Multi–Track fence Miter Gauge

Quick Review: Get this product if you want an upgraded miter gauge that’s both sturdy and reliable.

  • Size: 3/4” x 3/8”
  • Our Rating: 8/10

The premium Powertec miter gauge that we are reviewing is the 71391 model that is certainly an upgrade on almost any stock miter gauge.

As you’d expect from a Powertec tool, this miter gauge is well made from a solid aluminum construct and all parts are durable and sturdy which is a welcome feature given that this is a mid-priced product.

The notable feature on this model is the 27 positive stop slots that offer a great range of solid stops at the most common angles (plus a few extras). While it certainly won’t compete with the Incra model it’s still a noticeable upgrade on the majority of positive stops on offer by other models.

The multi-track miter fence with a laser engraved scale with 24” length is ideal for crosscutting large stock and has universal T-track slots to accommodate a range of bolt sizes.

Something that isn’t mentioned in the product description is the HDPE finish to the underside of the gauge. This feature allows the miter gauge to glide along the table without scratching the surface and is often an overlooked feature on most of the cheaper miter gauges.

Pros

Cons

Positive Stops: 27 positive stops allow for a greater range of accurate stops at common angles when compared with more basic miter gauges.

Highly Rated: For a mid-priced product you’ll struggle to find a negative review from customers, the product is solid and excellent value for money.

Gauge Finish: A HDPE finish on the underside of the gauge allows for smooth gliding and across the table.

Track Play: A few people claim that they have issues securing it into their saws track with minimal play, this will of course be influenced heavily by your saws model rather than it being a fault with this product.

7. SKIL 3410 Table Saw Replacement Miter Gauge

Quick Review: A ⅝” slot option! Get this product if you want a basic replacement miter gauge that is designed specifically for narrow ⅝” slot.

  • Size: 5/8”
  • Our Rating: 7.5/10

The SKIL 3410 miter gauge is designed as a replacement for table saws with a narrow ⅝” slot. If we are being honest, this is a no-frills replacement model that is aimed more towards the hobbyist woodworker looking to make a few basic cross-cuts.

The low price is unquestionably the key selling point with this product. When it comes to value for money you’re looking at a product that provides accuracy and reliability without breaking the bank.

With the price you are of course missing some key features that a more serious woodworker would look for in terms of positive stop slots, a T-slot washer or the ability to add a miter fence but it won’t disappoint when it comes to providing an accurate cross-cut.

Chris Says: “Truth be told, it’s hard to find a 5/8″ replacement miter gauge, so your options are limited. This one’s pretty standard, but as it’s tailored for 5/8 Inch slots, it’s a case of beggars can’t be choosers.”

Weighing only 6 ounces, this lightweight modal is compact and easily portable for those that are looking to take it to the jobsite for basic crosscutting.

If you need a cheap replacement miter gauge for a narrow table slot then this is a no-brainer model however it’s so basic in design that we’d definitely recommend others on this list ahead of it.

Pros

Cons

Good Price: This is one of the cheapest miter gauges on the market and provides excellent value for a beginner woodworker.

Narrow slot Option: A ¾” – ⅜” is the universal standard for a table saw miter slot and therefore this product offers an option for those with a narrow ⅝” slot.

Lightweight: Weighing only 6 ounces you can easily transport this for use on the jobsite.

Only for Narrow Slots: This miter gauge is made specifically for a narrow ⅝” slot as opposed to the standard ¾” slots.

Basic Design: There are no key features to note with this model, it’s a basic, no-frills replacement miter gauge.
