10 Inch miter saws really strike that balance between size, power and weight. Smaller 7 and 8 inch models tend to have limited cut capacity with thicker stock – particularly on bevel. Larger 12 inch models might not be appealing to a hobbyist who doesn’t want the size (and price, too!) of some larger premium models. So, 10 inch is a common preference for home or small workshop use.
So in this review we’ll take a look at the best 10 inch miter saws on the market today.

10 Inch Miter Saws – Full Reviews
1. Delta 26-2241 10 Inch Sliding Compound Miter Saw
Our Rating: 9/10
Delta is well known for producing high quality products and the 26-2241 miter saw is another premium edition in their range.
The standout and noticeable feature with this saw is the innovative sliding ‘robot arm’. This arm is both ergonomic allowing for a dual bevel and is also one of the smoothest sliding features that you are likely to find.
The ‘robot arm’ retracts into itself rather than pushing out behind the table, meaning unlike a sliding miter saw this saw can be placed on a table flush against a wall. In other words, it can work in a compact space whilst also securing a large cutting capacity. This may be appealing to people working in a small workshop.
Accuracy also appears effortless with this model as it uses a single-hand miter control with front bevel release for fast and accurate adjustments. The shadow guide system is also bright and allows for consistent and accurate cutting lines.
It’s worth pointing out that for such a high quality product there is a higher price tag but we feel that the features it offers in terms of power, ergonomics, and innovation more than justify this.
Versatile: A dual bevel, 7 positive stops for the miter, and an easy to reach lever override all combine to give maximum versatility for cutting capacity.
Cutting Capacity: The innovative design on this sliding miter means that it has a huge cutting capacity (16” crosscutting) whilst being able to do so in a more compact space.
Durable: This saw uses military grade aluminum for the frame with heavy-duty bearings giving a durable and long lasting product.
Warranty: A 5-year warranty provided by Delta is industry leading and a testament to the quality of this saw.
Accuracy: The depth stop and miter indents have a small amount of play which could be a deal breaker for those that need an extremely accurate finish
2. Hitachi C10FCG 10 Inch Compound Miter Saw
Our Rating: 9/10
We think the Hitachi C10FCG is a great quality (and value) miter saw that comes highly recommended by the vast majority of users.
Firstly, the saw covers all of your basic miter saw needs. It’s competitively powerful thanks to a 15Amp, 2.57HP motor while doing so in a lightweight (24.2 pounds) and portable frame.
Ease of use is something that appeals with this saw. The large table and clamp help make it easy to support large stock and the thumb actuated positive stops are intuitive for making changes to the miter angle.
The quality of this tool should not be underestimated. It’s one of the most owned miter saws on the market and yet still maintains a high user rating.
The most noticeable feature of this product is the inexpensive price. It’s made from a reputable brand and will not break the bank like some of the more premium priced miter saws.
Overall, this is a solid product that we feel is well suited to beginner and intermediate level woodworkers. It’s inexpensive, reliable, and most importantly well rated by the majority of users.
Highly Rated: This is one of the most purchased miter saws on the market and even with so many users it still maintains a high rating.
Price: The price of this product is very competitive and noticeably affordable, especially for beginners building up a workshop tool collection.
Large Table: A large table with plenty of surface space and the vice clamp combine to easily secure stock material and also make it easier to work with larger stock.
Assembly Instructions: The assembly instructions with this product are difficult to follow, especially for those that are new to power tools.
3. Makita XSL06PT 10 Inch Cordless Miter Saw
Our Rating: 9/10
This cordless miter saw from Makita not only matches the power of most corded models but does so with some additional features that we think users would appreciate.
Firstly, this cordless model does not have a reduced power output compared to many other cordless models and is still noticeably powerful thanks to the 2 x 18V batteries. These batteries also provide a long run time.
This saw offers a great cutting capacity and does so with a consistent finish. The dual bevel offers versatility of cut. The automatic speed change technology with soft start system ensures a smooth and consistent cutting speed on all stock.
Dual dust collection ports allow for enhanced dust collection whilst the rail sliding system offers a reduced footprint for compact work in tight spaces.
The front facing bevel and miter controls allow for efficient and accurate adjustments and the positive indent stops further enhance the accuracy of this tool.
Overall, we feel this is a very solid and consistent saw that could provide consistent and accurate work. There aren’t too many downsides with this product and we feel it’d be a great all-round miter saw.
Cordless: 2 x 18V, 5Amp Li-Ion batteries power this saw and provide a portable and versatile experience for use in the workshop or out on the job site.
Dust Collection: Dual dust ports provide superior dust collection for a clearer work surface and reduced clean up time.
Consistency: Automatic speed change technology maintains blade speed during a cut for smooth and consistent work.
Dim Laser: According to some reviewers, the laser light guide on the product is quite dim and not well suited to outdoor use in daylight.
4. Makita LS1040 10 Inch Compound Miter Saw
Our Rating: 8.5/10
The Makita LS1040 is a more basic model miter saw when compared with some sliding saw alternatives however it more than compensates for this with superior accuracy and consistency.
You’ll find that accuracy with this saw is intuitive and precise right out of the box. Adjustments to the miter and bevel are intuitive and allow users to produce high quality and accurate cuts even with limited experience or skill.
Consistency is a key feature with this saw. Electronic speed control combined with soft start technology can help give smooth and consistent cuts.
While we feel this is an overall great saw, we also feel the cutting capacity is slightly limited with this product. The single bevel and lack of sliding functionality mean that users might struggle when using this saw for larger stock pieces.
For users who are new to woodworking or seasoned professionals, this miter saw can deliver accurate and repeatable cuts. We feel it’s a great option for those that need a basic and accurate tool.
Portability: This miter saw is both compact and lightweight (weighing in at only 27lbs) allowing for ease of portability.
Durability: Designed for durability with a machined aluminum base, dual slide rails, and a carbide blade for hard wearing and long-lasting use.
Consistent: Soft start technology and electronic speed control allow this saw to maintain a consistent speed for clean and consistent cuts.
Single Bevel: The fact that this saw only has a single bevel and no sliding functionality means that you can be quite limited in cutting capacity, especially for larger stock.
5. Metabo HPT C10FCH2S 10 Inch Compound Miter Saw
Our Rating: 8/10
The Metabo C10FCH2S is a great beginner miter saw that is available at a very inexpensive price. Despite being a budget option we still feel that this saw is solid, durable, and has some very useful features.
One of the most noticeable advantages that this product has over some of the competition is of course the affordable price making this a great budget option.
We can’t say this saw will be accurate right out of the box, especially for bevel cuts, however, we can say that once you have calibrated your saw (one way to do this is to test the angles against a digital meter) it should be precise and accurate.
The saw has minimal vibration during use and is a solid construction which is what allows it to maintain accuracy.
A large, pivoting flip fence, base stabilizer bar, and dust bag are all additional features on this model that we’d expect to find on a saw with a much higher price point.
While we feel this is a solid product, it’s worth keeping in mind that it is still a budget priced option and therefore some of the features will be quite basic, especially when compared with some of the more premium products on this list.
Price: This is a great budget priced option that has some impressive features for a relatively inexpensive price.
Large Fence: The large pivoting flip fence is ideal for supporting larger stock and it raises 4” for cutting crown molding vertically.
Beginner Friendly: This is a user friendly saw that is both intuitive and easy for beginners to use.
Laser Marker: The laser marker system can be quite dim and difficult to see, especially in daylight. Some users even opted to upgrade the laser with an aftermarket option.
6. Bosch CM10GD 10 Inch Miter Saw
Our Rating: 8/10
The Bosch CM10GD is an ergonomic and compact miter saw that enables users to work quickly and comfortably without compromising on accuracy.
The compact design and innovative axial gliding arm gives a space saving of 10” over traditional sliding miter saws which enables use in tight and small areas. The arm is also smooth and efficient to help reduce fatigue.
Despite the compact design, the saw is still relatively heavy, weighing in at 60 pounds and is therefore not the most portable option.
The ergonomics of this model such as soft grip and ambidextrous trigger allow for long periods of use that are comfortable and efficient to reduce fatigue. The upfront miter and bevel controls also appear fast and efficient offering maximum control during use.
A dual dust collection system is ideal for not only dust collection during use, but the vacuum attachment allows for easy clean up during and after use.
For the price, we’d like to see more heavy-duty parts be used and while it appears the saw is smooth to use and impressively ergonomic, we feel it has some flaws that prevent it from being a standout option.
Clean Workspace: The dust chute and vacuum adapter allow for decent dust collection with quick and easy cleaning in between and after use.
Compact: The compact design should take up 10” less space than a standard sliding miter saw and the innovative arm allows for work in tight areas.
Ergonomic: An ambidextrous, soft grip handle, dual dust collection/cleaning system and front facing miter and bevel controls allow for a good user experience.
Heavy: Weighing 60 pounds with no carry handles means that this saw is not very portable and can be difficult to move around.
Part Durability: Some key parts like the bevel adjustment knob are plastic and not heavy-duty which has led to quite a lot of broken parts during use for some users.
7. Genesis GMSDR1015LC 15 Amp 10″ Sliding Compound Miter Saw
Our Rating: 7.5/10
The Genesis GMSDR1015LC is not designed to be a premium product, but we feel that some of its solid features make it good for DIY and household use.
The main feature of this sliding miter saw is the increased cutting capacity. It allows for 12” cross cuts as well as miter, bevel, and compound cuts.
The saw is also a heavy-duty and powerful model with a 15Amp motor providing blade speeds of 4,800 RPM for smooth and consistent work with a wide range of stock.
For the price, this saw has some very useful additional features which include a laser guide line, 60T carbide blade, and a spindle lock for quick blade changes.
There are a few downsides to this product even at an affordable price. The tolerances for angle setting are not the tightest, making it difficult for some users to produce accurate work. The saw overall has a number of bad reviews online as a result of customers being unhappy with the product quality.
While this saw might have some bad reviews online, for the price range we feel that this is still a solid tool that is great for DIY projects and is good value for money.
Price: We wouldn’t consider this to be a budget option tool however it does have a reasonable and inexpensive price tag.
Cutting Capacity: A large cutting capacity allows for crosscutting of 12” alongside miter, bevel, and compound cuts.
Powerful: A powerful 15Amp motor powers blade speeds of 4,800 RPM for smooth and heavy-duty cutting.
Reviews: This saw has quite a high proportion of bad reworks online which makes us weary.
Tolerances: Some have noted that this product does not have quite as much tolerance when it comes to accuracy adjustments, and therefore it may be difficult to produce accurate work.
What we Look for in a 10 Inch Miter Saw
The weight of a miter saw can vary significantly. The typical range is anywhere from 23 lbs all the way up to 85 lbs. This is because a sub-set of miter saws are now manufactured and designed specifically to be portable. And the truth is, weight is mainly a concern if you want your miter saw to be portable – what we might consider a ‘jobsite miter saw’. If the miter saw is going to be sitting on a bench in your workshop, obviously weight isn’t going to matter nearly as much.
Compound / Bevel – Dual vs. Left Only
Miter saws used to be exclusively left-bevel only. This led to the minor inconvenience of often needing to flip your stock to get the correct angle on your bevel cuts. While it’s not a big deal for smaller stock, a wide board of laminate would be clunky to maneuver to get to the position you want it. When dual bevel miter saws entered the market, this inconvenience was overcome. In general, while we do like a dual bevel miter saw, single bevel will get most hobbyists by without too much drama.
Your miter saw fence is your guiderail for ensuring your stock is held firmly in place for the cut. Two things differentiate fences: width and measurement metrics. If you’re working with large stock, you might want a fence that’s extra wide to really firmly hold the stock in place. Many workmen simply make zero clearance fences themselves out of hardwood lying around their shop, and it’s not hard to do. The second metric we like is a nice clear measure imprinted into the fence to help you precisely measure your cut before you begin.
A ‘sliding’ miter saw increases the width capacity of your cut. You can pull the saw head towards you to start the cut, lower the blade, then push the saw head back along a sliding rail to cut the full width of your lumber. This can be particularly useful when using smaller blades which don’t generally have the same width cut capacity as tradition chop saw cuts.
One hassle you might come across with a sliding miter saw is bumping up against a wall behind the saw. Several radial arm miter saws have come onto the market which address this issue through some innovative robotic arms that fold in on themselves rather than extruding back into the wall behind.
The power source is either going to be a cord through to a power outlet, or a battery. Cordless models are great for portability (and are generally designed for being more lightweight as a result), but also tend to run out of steam far too soon. The solution here is to always have back-up batteries nearby.
Most major brands (such as Milwaukee and Dewalt) have interchangeable batteries for all of their power tools. So, we like to have a power bank of batteries that we can swap out when needed and use on all of our cordless tools. Chris (our editor) is a Dewalt man – so he gravitates towards Dewalt cordless power tools, as he knows he has a stockpile of batteries already.
Laser & Accuracy
A good miter saw should come with a laser guide to allow you to see exactly where you will make your cut clearly before you drop the saw. Something to keep an eye on is online reviews that complain about the laser being hard to see in daylight – some lasers are a little dim unfortunately. We do like a good laser so we can line it up perfectly with out markings to ensure an accurate cut every time.
It’s not easy to find the right 10 inch miter saw for your needs. This review of the best 10 inch miter saws has provided some examples and our ratings of them for our personal circumstances. Personally, we’re quite bullish on the Delta 26-2241 for ourselves. Of course, none of this constitutes advice – professional or otherwise – for you or your circumstances, so do your own due diligence and consult a professional.
We hope this general information has been useful though as you go about searching for the best 10 inch miter saw!
